The Import Reform: "What's Good for Europe" and "What's Good for America" – What It Means for the Importer

The reform allows importing products that meet European standards, and later American ones too, without a duplicate check in Israel. What is in force and what isn't yet.

For years, importers had to prove compliance with an Israeli standard even when the product was already approved in Europe. The reform is gradually changing that: a product that meets European regulation can enter Israel on the basis of a declaration and documents.

Alongside the European route, a parallel route for American standards was enacted. Both are taking effect in stages, and not for all product groups.

What the full guide will cover

  • What the European route sets out and which products it covers
  • The American route: what has been approved and when it is expected to apply
  • Which documents the importer holds and what its responsibility is
  • What hasn't changed: products that still require prior approval
